Living the Dream
Shady Creek is a tiny homestead in the woods of NW Oregon. We breed Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats on a small scale to provide us with fresh milk, cheese and yogurt. We breed for milk, not profit, so we tend to have a very limited number of kids available and are very selective about the homes they go to. We stagger our breeding and freshen twice a year, so kids do arrive in both spring and fall, but I only freshen 2-3 does at a time. That way I can work with all the kids to make sure they are healthy and well socialized before they go to their new homes.
When choosing breeding pairs, we aim for increased production and vigor while improving conformation and temperament. We are dedicated to providing the best care and best kids possible, with an emphasis on superior dairy production and friendly disposition. We keep our herd small so that we are able to bond with and care for each goat individually. We love healthy goats that happily get on the stand and give quarts and quarts of delicious milk, yet also look right at home in the show ring.

Millie, Due 10/8/26
D: ZOOATHOME HC CHAMOMILE (MILLIE)
Millie was the first kid born here at Shady Creek. She is now carrying triplets of her own. Millie is a brown buckskin and Marlow is chamoise. Both dam and sire also carry black, so we could get quite the assortment of colors from this pairing.
Millie is a first freshener. Her dam, Sweetie, has superior milk genetics listed with ADGA.
Marlow is a *B buck from Blue Cactus Dairy Goats. He comes from a strong, champion milking line. His DNA is on file with ADGA.
The Silly Illies
Millie and Jillie are sisters and have been inseparable from birth. They do everything together, so it is not surprising that they are due to kid at the same time. I am looking forward to seeing how these girls react to becoming mothers together.

Jillie is also carrying triplets, just like her sister. She is due one day later, which of course means they could possibly kid at the same time. Jillie is black with minimal white and Marlow is chamoise carrying black, so we could get black or chamoise kids from this pairing. Jill is also polled, so that is a possibility as well.

Millie and Jillie, sisters, are currently pregnant and due the second week of October. They are first fresheners and I’m so excited to see their kids and udders for the first time! Come back cute newborn pics when the kids arrive this fall.

Our Bucks
We currently have three breeding bucks. They are super friendly and quite silly. I enjoy them a lot more than I expected to. Sometimes they are better behaved than some of my does, who can be real divas.
